New Zealand Grand Prix winner Liam Sceats is making a name for himself on the road to IndyCar.

Liam Sceats is one of New Zealand’s brightest young motorsport talents. Known for his natural speed, Sceats has made a name for himself with a string of impressive achievements in open-wheel racing.

Sceats’ early victories in national karting championships set the stage for his rise through the ranks. Moving up to single seaters, he competed in the Formula Ford Championship, where his performances began catching the attention of the New Zealand motorsport scene.

It’s in the Formula Regional series where Sceats truly shone. Racing against some of the best young drivers from around the globe, he consistently finished near the top in both New Zealand and Japan, becoming Vice-Champion in both countries’ respective series.

His dominant New Zealand Grand Prix victory at the start of 2024 opened a doorway for the 18-year-old to compete in the United States, joining the road to IndyCar in the USF Pro 2000 Championship.

Sceats’ was on the pace immediately, securing a podium on debut at St Petersburg infront of the IndyCar paddock. The results haven’t stopped coming, with Sceats stepping on the podium four times this season, including a maiden win at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Sitting fourth in the championship entering in to the final round, the young Aucklander has certainly made a statement State-side.
