Audi facelift the RS3

Aug 21, 2024

Audi announced a suite of upgrades in the form of a facelift for the RS 3 and RS 3 Sedan.

Both performance and aesthetics are being tweaked, pushing the RS3 forward as the ultimate hot-compact.

The front of the facelifted RS3 features a more aggressive hexagonal Singleframe grille, accentuated by vertical air intakes and a splitter that spans the vehicle's width. These elements, inspired by the iconic Audi Sport quattro S1 Pikes Peak, give the car a lower stance and more assertive presence. The updated headlights now include a digital signature, allowing drivers to choose from three daytime running light designs for the first time. The rear of the vehicle follows suit, with design elements echoing the motorsport-inspired front, including a larger diffuser and RS-specific exhaust system.

Under the bonnet, the RS 3 retains its powerful 2.5 TFSI engine, delivering 294 kW and a maximum torque of 500 Nm. This engine, known for its unique five-cylinder firing sequence, propels the RS 3 from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of 290 km/h. Audi Sport has fine-tuned the exhaust system, ensuring a deeper, more resonant sound, particularly in dynamic driving modes.

The driving dynamics of the RS 3 have also seen significant improvements. The introduction of a torque splitter allows for fully variable torque distribution between the rear wheels, enhancing cornering precision and agility. This was demonstrated by Audi Sport racing driver Frank Stippler, who set a new Nürburgring-Nordschleife lap record for compact cars, clocking in at 7:33.123 minutes.

The inside of the RS3 has also seen significant updates. The steering wheel, screens and seats have been brought in-line with Audi’s current design language. High-quality materials and Audi’s trademark craftsmanship ensure that even the most subtle details, like the car's scent, contribute to the overall experience.
